Pick your city to see the average last spring frost, first fall frost, and how many frost-free growing days you get. These are long-term averages, not guarantees — and once you have your dates, the seed-starting calendar turns them into a planting schedule.

How it’s figured
Frost-free days = first fall frost date minus last spring frost date. Dates are long-term averages from published frost-date tables (Old Farmer’s Almanac and Extension sources). For a ZIP code we show the nearest of 85 reporting cities and the distance to it — that’s station data, not a measurement at your exact address, so microclimates and elevation can shift real dates by days or weeks. ZIP locations come from the US Census Bureau 2024 Gazetteer. Averages, not guarantees — a late spring or an early fall can still surprise you, so check your local Extension office for your exact area.
