About these sizes
Sizes are minimums — bigger is almost always better for yield and watering ease. Soil volume assumes the pot is filled to about an inch below the rim. Note that nursery “gallon” pots run small (a #5 nursery pot holds roughly 3.9 true gallons), so when in doubt, size up. Every container needs drainage holes.
