Growing the same plant family in the same bed year after year lets soil pests and diseases build up. Log what grew where for the last three years, and this planner flags beds that need a family change in 2027 — and suggests what to plant instead.
How it’s figured
Every crop belongs to a plant family — nightshades, brassicas, legumes, and so on. Related crops share pests and diseases, so Extension guidance commonly recommends waiting 3–4 years before the same family returns to the same bed. The checker compares what grew in each bed in 2026 against 2024 and 2025: if the same family shows up in 2026 and either earlier year, the bed gets flagged with guidance for that family. The 2027 suggestions are simply the first three crop names (alphabetical) from families not recently planted in that bed — starting examples, not personalized picks. Check spacing, season, and your zone before committing. Your beds are saved in this browser only; nothing is sent anywhere.
