How it’s figured

Bloom windows are typical ranges by USDA hardiness zone (2023 map) – real bloom shifts with the weather each year, so treat them as estimates, not promises. The planting window is roughly 6 to 8 weeks before your average first fall frost, from the nearest of 85 reporting cities (station data, not your exact yard). Planting depth and spacing are standard published planting guidance for each bulb. In frost-free areas there is no natural winter chill, so spring bulbs need pre-chilled bulbs and are usually grown as annuals.
